Tuition & Financial Aid

An interdisciplinary, academic bioethics center, including a graduate program in bioethics

Bioethics Brochure Final_Page_8_Image_0002Tuition is set at the standard rates for the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Reynolda Campus.  The actual rates for the 2010-2011 academic year will be set in the early spring and posted at the link above.

As an estimate based on the 2009-2010 rates, it is possible to complete the M.A. degree as a full-time student in one full academic year and a summer term (up to 6 hours in the summer) for a cost of approximately $33,000, and total costs would be roughly the same for part-time students. (Nine credit hours per semester constitute full-time status.  The maximum per semester is 15 credit hours.)

Limited need-based scholarships are available.  These limited need-based scholarships pay up to 25% of tuition for qualified MA in Bioethics or Graduate Certificate in Bioethics students who enroll in 4 or more credit hours of bioethics courses per semester.  The policy outlining the institutional financial aid application process and eligibility can be found here. Please note that the priority deadline for submission of the FAFSA is March 1st for fall enrollment and November 1st for spring enrollment, if you choose to apply.  (We will accept applications after these priority deadlines, but funding is limited.)  At this time, we do not anticipate being able to award need-based scholarships to persons receiving substantial employer or other external tuition support.

For degree-seeking students, financial support also is available in the form of ordinary student loans under terms generally available to all graduate students (described here).

Wake Forest University and Wake Forest University Health Sciences employees and their spouses/domestic partners are encouraged to contact their respective Human Resources Departments to determine eligibility for the tuition concession benefit.
